I’m delighted ‘Tower’ will be exhibited in Fight Flight or Freeze, a group exhibition exploring instinct, agency and the existential angst inherent in our DNA.

I'm delighted to be exhibiting in several group shows next year and I'm currently making new work in the Canary Wharf/West India Docks area, in preparation for one of next year's group shows. 

My solo show ‘Wayfaring, An exhibition of drawings’ opened on 18th October 2023 with a packed Private View and I was enormously grateful to David Remfry RA for officially opening the show with a very generous short speech.

Anthropologist Tim Ingold defines wayfaring as a process whereby a person moves through a landscape whilst maintaining an ‘active engagement with the country that opens up along [their] path’ (Lines, A brief History, 2007. I’m delighted my panoramic drawing ‘Edge of the Storm’ has been sold and is off to a new home.

I began the drawing in the afternoon on 18th February 2022. Earlier that day, I’d been delivering a drawing workshop focussing on Leon Kossoff for the Courtauld Institute of Art’s Young People’s Programme. I was grateful to be teaching online, from home, as Storm Eunice was raging outside. The internet connection held up, but the lights kept flickering and, with the wind howling and building creaking, it sounded as if I were on-board a ship….

I will be showing ‘Flight’, along with other new drawings, this weekend at Art Hub’s Open Studios, 11am – 5pm, Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th September 2022. UPDATE: ’FLIGHT’ IS NOW SOLD

When I was drawing from my window at home during lockdown, it felt as though my window provided a strict barrier between interior and exterior. In contrast, when I’m drawing in my new studio, the building feels part of the surrounding industrial landscape, temporarily inhabited as a lookout post.

Last week I had the great good fortune to spend a few days in Old Leigh on the Essex coast. It was incredibly exhilarating seeing the Thames Estuary up close. UPDATE: SOLD OUT
