‘Thames Barrier’ on show in the New English Art Club Annual Exhibition.

Graphite drawing by Alexandra Blum Thames Barrier swirling water river Thames London

Alexandra Blum, Thames Barrier, graphite on paper, 42 x 59 cm, 2020, Private Collection.

Delighted my drawing ‘Thames Barrier’ has been selected for the New English Art Club’s Annual Exhibition 2021. See the show at the Mall Galleries, London from 25th June until 3rd July 2021.

Drawn from the banks of the Thames before the first lockdown, I remember wanting to draw the way in which the circular forms on the side of the Barrier brought to mind a strange paddle steamer, as if it could begin to plough its way down stream. Closer to where I was standing, I noticed a garden fork circling many times in an eddy before the current shifted and it finally made its escape. UPDATE: SOLD
