Watercolour by Alexandra Blum of an urban forest with early spring leaves under a layered grey sky

Alexandra Blum, ‘Slow Contemplation, Spring 2026’, watercolour on paper, 23 x 30.5 cm, 2026

The trees in the foreground gradually took on a transparent quality when the emerging leaves began to fragment their previously stark silhouettes, dissolving the outline of bare branches.
