Alexandra Blum, ‘Swan’, graphite on paper, 42 x 59.4 cm, 2019

I drew the swan twice as it glided past me. Its head turning briefly towards me as it did so. Dwarfed by the aggregate ship, it seemed nonetheless resolute in going about its business.

‘Swan' was exhibited in the Summer Exhibition 2020 at the Royal Academy of Arts in Gallery VIII, which was beautifully curated by David Remfry RA
