watercolour by Alexandra Blum depicting winter trees building site cranes and birds

Alexandra Blum, ‘Winter 2025’, watercolour on paper, 23 x 30.5 cm, 2025.

Made slowly over several weeks in-between the January storms, ‘Winter 2025’ is an accumulation of quiet, early evening observations: steam hovering in winter air as it rises from rooftops altering the appearance of buildings behind it; a pulse of reflected evening sunlight on a window; a single bird moving from shadow to light, in the process revealing its individual, curving flight path within the wider city.
