The Savoy Series began with drawings made over several weeks close to Savoy pier and Cleopatra’s needle on the bank of the Thames. I have the feeling, especially when by the Thames, that our ever expanding urban environment is precariously poised between the creation of a spectacular human achievement and an enormous disaster from which it could never recover.
