Kingsland Construction Drawing 1
Ink on Board, 54 x 61 cm, 2004
Image 9 of 9: series I next I previous

This series was based on a rapidly changing area of London: buildings were being demolished at lightning speed, new permanent structures equally swiftly constructed and, in the interim, once familiar streets were populated by a multitude of temporary passage ways and tunnels made of hoardings and scaffolding - drastically altering an individual's conception of space in that area. It is this moment of sudden awareness, and of the consequent transformation from an apparently mundane to a dynamic space, that is explored in these images.
